Octavia Santon Caldwell
Octavia is a 5thgeneration member of the Stanton family of Alexandria, Virginia and the first of five children gifted to Charles and Marian Stanton of that city. She was married to Reginald Caldwell for 45 years prior to his transition to heaven, and they shared joy in their two adult sons who are both awesome men of God, and five of the most adorable, intelligent and gifted grandchildren in the universe.
She joined the Shiloh Baptist Church in Alexandria and was baptized at the age of nine. But it wasn’t until 1981 at the age of 30 that she understood the difference between church membership and salvation, and accepted Jesus’ gift of salvation and surrendered control of her life to Him as Lord. After serving in leadership positions at Riverside, New Fellowship, and El-Bethel Baptist Churches, and most recently at the Church of the Great Commission as Minister of Evangelism and Missions, Octavia has followed her Lord’s leading and returned to Shiloh Baptist Church and is serving under Pastor Taft Quincy Heatley’s shepherding.
As a Missional Evangelist, Octavia has served on and led short-term mission trips to Jamaica (3), Moldova (2), Latvia (2), Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (5). She is certified as a Disaster Relief Chaplain by the Southern Baptist Maryland/Delaware State Convention and in response to the 2017 hurricane season was deployed to Immokalee, Fla and Puerto Rico; locally she served as Chaplain in Ellicott City following both the 2018 and 2016 flooding events. She has served as Chaplain for both Good News and Prison Fellowship prison ministries. Currently she serves as Chaplain to United Community Against Poverty, Prince George’s County Community Action Agency, that operates the Emergency Homeless Shelter for Women and Children. Loving to “contend for the faith” she is a Southern Baptist Convention certified Interfaith Associate specializing in Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Islam, equipping congregations to minister and witness to those of other beliefs and faiths. She has also worked with Pastors and congregations around the globe to establish or strengthen their Evangelism and Missions ministries.
She and Reginald founded ROC Consultants, LLC in 2004, and following his transition, she established Caldwell Group, Inc., an Organizational and Leadership Development Consulting company, which will be officially launched in October of 2019. Octavia is a certified John Maxwell coach, trainer and speaker, and as a professional facilitator, she helps large and small groups that need to work, make decisions, or plan together. She and Reginald also founded Global Mandate, Inc., a 501(c)(3) ministry that focuses on evangelism, discipleship, and practical acts of ministry.
The verse that undergirds Octavia’s ministry is, “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” (Acts 20:24, NLT)
